(NZAID) Postgraduate Scholarship

According to the Memorandum
of Understanding on Cooperation in Education and Training signed by
the Ministry of Education of P. R. China and New Zealand Ministry
of Education, the New Zealand Agency for International Development
(NZAID) offers Postgraduate Scholarships to up to 10 Chinese for their
postgraduate studies in New Zealand annually. The New Zealand Ministry
of Foreign Affairs and Trade's Scholarship Management Unit is in charge
of the assessment of applications, awarding and administration of
the scholarship while China Scholarship Council (CSC)
incorporates this program into its government-sponsored scholarship
programs. The awardees shall pursue Master Degrees in New Zealand
for one and a half years to two years. Currently the program only
applies to applicants from Sichuan, Yunnan, Gansu, Guizhou Provinces,
Xinjiang Uygur and Tibet Autonomous Regions, who are Bachelor Degree
holders, with more than 3 year's working or teaching experience and
are under 35 years old. The applicants may study in Agriculture, Energy
or Environment Protection, Medicine and Public Health, and Basic Education.
The following universities in New Zealand can receive the scholarship
awardees: Auckland University,
Auckland University of Technology,
Waikato University, Massey
University, Victoria University,
Lincoln University, Canterbury
University, and Otago University.
The deadline of submitting the application to the above universities
varies from the end of June to the end of August. The universities
in New Zealand must submit the documents of scholarship application
to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade (MFAT) for their evaluation
by September. It is the admission notice from the above universities
and confirmation letter from MFAT that guarantee the award of the
scholarship. Awardees will usually start their studies in February
